We are a fully accredited independent Connection Provider (ICP).

The National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) is administered by Lloyds Register, who ensure technical compliance with DNO specifications. Our experienced team can design and carry out works on behalf of clients on the electricity network. These networks are normally owned by either a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or an Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO), and we will liaise directly with them on your behalf to secure the most efficient and cost-effective connections.

As an Independent connection provider, we cover all aspects of EV infrastructure.

What does an ICP do?

An Independent Connections Provider (ICP) is a specialist company accredited by The National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) that connects electrical infrastructure to the grid. ICPs are responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining electrical infrastructure, such as new connections to the electricity grid or modifications to existing connections.

(POC) Points of Connection

Based on the on the required capacity of the EV infrastructure, we would select the appropriate installation for bringing power to site. This could be by means of an LV POC or HV POC to a new substation. Early engagement with the DNO/IDNO can help identify whether your proposed location has adequate capacity to meet the charging demand. If there is enough capacity from the existing supply, no network reinforcement will be required. If any reinforcement is needed, it will be your local DNO/IDNO that will provide this.

Substation Installation

Installing a substation to enable EV charging requires careful planning and coordination with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO). The DNO is responsible for connecting the infrastructure to the local grid / power network and assessing whether there is adequate capacity to meet the demand.

Once a grid POC has been procured with the DNO, a new substation may be required to power the charging infrastructure. A wayleave is required for the transfer of land between the DNO/IDNO and the landowner. This is to allow for access to the new substation.

Power Network Design

Our principal design engineers are experienced in both DNO & IDNO power networks. We can provide the following services:

  • Liaising with the relevant DNO/IDNO
  • POC Application
  • ICP Design of all contestable works associated with the connection (LV & HV)
  • Management of all associated legal processes for transfer of land (Substations)
